Debra, a native of Terrebonne Parish, achieved her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Nicholls State University. She has experience as staff nurse and charge nurse in a state facility,  case manager, director of nursing and administrator in hospice care and is currently the Director of Nursing for H.L. Haydel Memorial Hospice, managing all medical staff and nurturing the concept of “family caring for family“. She participates in the National and Louisiana/Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organizations and is affiliated with members of the Oncology Nursing Society. Her previous memberships in Sigma Theta Tau and Phi Kappa Phi established recognition for her leadership abilities as well as being presented with the “Professionalism and Leadership Award”.

Debra is fluent in Cajun French. She was previously employed as a teacher for United Methodist Learning Center, employed by the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux and Bayou Catholic and Youth Choir Director are a few past experiences. She has donated many hours of her time and talent to the local musical arts.
She feels Hospice is a ministry and gift – to answer the call is very fulfilling.
